Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ)
Your organization should establish and manage foreign-trade zones and bonded warehousing operations to:
- Reduce or eliminate duties on manufactured goods
- Reduce Merchandise Processing and other import fees
- Eliminate duties on waste, scrap and production yield loss
Key Challenges
Various FTZ systems - Independent systems are costly and less likely to effectively integrate with each other, leading to unnecessary duplication and increased risk for errors
Time consuming administration - Your organization can be burdened with the meticulous record-keeping required for products entering and exiting zones
Manual efforts - Without the right software developed by industry experts, the administrative hours required are excessive and cut into margins
Estimate Your FTZ Cost Savings
FTZs offer significant advantages to your business, primarily by enhancing your competitive position. The reduction and deferral of duty payments provide a cash flow advantage to importers and exporters. In essence, FTZs serve as a powerful tool for US businesses engaged in international trade, offering both cost savings and financial flexibility.

Inventory Control and Recordkeeping
Maintaining and ensuring Foreign-Trade Zone compliance requires access to the right information, training, and tools. The most important tool in FTZ compliance is the Foreign-Trade Zone Inventory Control and Recordkeeping System (ICRS).
QAD FTZ properly tracks and prepares weekly estimates by Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). The solution compliantly tracks by value and quantity. QAD FTZ ensures the FTZ Operator never exceeds its weekly entry estimate. Pre-set thresholds can be established in QAD FTZ’s notification system to ensure that your company is notified well in advance of shipments exceeding weekly entry estimates.
Significantly Reduced FTZ Administration Time
QAD FTZ removes significant administrative burdens and boosts FTZ program efficiency. The solution processes all receipts, adjustments, and shipments from the Zone in a manner that satisfies CBP and FTZ Board requirements.
It includes a number of easy-to-use dashboards for FTZ administration. Dashboard views let the user know at a glance:
Status of weekly entry estimate
Notifications and reminders
Upcoming CBP due dates
Many more notifications and pertinent information that keeps the FTZ administrator informed
FTZ Documentation and Electronic Submissions
QAD FTZ prints all required reports and forms necessary to administer a Foreign-Trade Zone, including:
Individual and weekly entry (CBPF 3461 and CBPF 7501)

CBPF 7512 (in-bond documentation)
In addition, it offers easily customizable reports. A user may customize a report by simply picking fields or using a simple query system.

E-214 submissions
QP/WP (electronic in-bond transactions)

HTSUS Update Management
QAD FTZ notifies your organization of expiring and changing HTSUS numbers. It also identifies each item affected within HTSUS and notifies users of any new HTSUS codes that need to be added to the Weekly Estimate.
Notifications and Alerts
QAD FTZ has a robust notification and alert system. There are numerous preset alerts to ensure the user stays compliant with required reports, processing and deadlines. In addition, custom alerts can be created that send emails, texts, or even reports to the QAD FTZ customer.
