Automated Routing Guide
Transportation Execution is powered by a configurable, electronic routing guide that systematically applies a company’s business rules, policies and customer routing instructions based on the attributes of a shipment (e.g. weight, volume, dimensions), the customer or ship-to, the origin and/or the destination of a shipment. In this way, the routing guide enables flexible and automated decision-making for such attributes as:
Carrier, Service and Mode Selection
Payment Method (e.g., Prepaid, Collect, COD)
Carrier Billing Account (e.g., Shipper, Customer, 3rd Party)
Accessorial Requirements (e.g., Delivery Confirmation, Saturday Delivery, Lift Gate)
Shipment Date
Multi-Carrier and Multi-Modal Shipping
Carrier, Service and Mode Selection: Using the Routing Guide, Transportation Execution can automatically assign a carrier service based on a shipment’s characteristics, the carrier constraints and your configured rules and guidelines.
Rate Shopping: The system can provide you with a list of available carrier services showing estimated cost, transit times and ETA dates for best selection decision making.
Freight Quoting: Transportation Execution provides your organization with an estimated freight rate at the time of quotation or order entry by using the Rate Shopping capabilities in advance of the actual shipment.
Multi-Modal Shipments: Manage multiple modes of transport, (e.g., parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), truckload (TL), air, rail, barge and ocean), including transitions to alternate modes for the same shipment.
Parcel Shipping: Transportation Execution is a global multi-carrier parcel manifesting system that has been accredited by carriers throughout the world. This solution supports an unrivaled number of origin countries with ongoing additions of carriers and countries to the network on a regular basis.
Carrier Integration: Leverage pre-built integrations with an extensive list of global carriers and the range of services they offer. Add new carrier integrations while meeting specific technology requirements.
Tracking / PRO / Waybill Number Generation: Generate carrier tracking numbers according to various carrier formats, utilizing ranges, prefixes and check digits. Tracking numbers can be used in shipment documentation, electronic notifications and for tracking purposes.
Advanced Shipment Notices (ASN): ASNs can be created and sent electronically to the appropriate parties to alert them to shipment dispatch and tracking information.
Transportation Labels and Documents
Shipping Labels: Transportation Execution produces accredited carrier labels, general purpose shipping and address labels as well as the ability to tailor labels to meet your business requirements. Return labels can be printed and sent with an outbound shipment, or return labels can be emailed to end-customers, to enable the return/repair processes.
Documents: Transportation related documents such as packing lists, bills of lading, dangerous good notes, and driver manifests can be produced for your organization.
Rate Management
The system provides comprehensive rating capabilities across all modes. Rates for accredited carriers can be provided as part of the carrier content subscription service. Contracted rates for other carriers (e.g., LTL, TL) can be easily uploaded, stored and maintained in the system for use in quotation, shipping and auditing.
In addition to freight costs, other charges such as carrier surcharges, handling fees, duties and taxes can be attributed to a shipment in order to calculate a shipment’s true or fully landed cost.
Address Verification
Shipments with invalid addresses lead to undelivered orders, late deliveries or additional carrier fees for address corrections. With QAD, you can validate addresses across 249+ countries and territories resulting in verified addresses to the most precise local formats.
Consolidated Shipping
Individual shipments that are going to the same ship-to or geographic area can be easily combined into larger, more cost efficient consolidations, including country and zone skipping requirements. Transportation Execution supports carrier specific consolidation programs such as FedEx’s International Priority Distribution® (IPD), UPS World Ease®, TNT Integrated Direct Express (IDE) and DHL’s Break Bulk Express.
Analytics for Transportation Execution
Analytics gives your decision makers real-time operational insight across all shipping operations for the current day or a date range. The solution offers an easy-to-use dashboard with 12 shipping charts and drill-down capabilities for granular insights.
Transportation Analytics provides up-to-the-minute visibility into shipping data with live data filtering capabilities. Charts can be added multiple times with different filters to examine similar metrics for different clients, carrier packing locations, date ranges and so forth. Charts include shipping volume by carrier and by carrier service, shipping costs by carrier, shipments not yet on a carrier pick-up, and shipment volumes against carrier agreements.
Non-Production Shipping
Most organizations have some need to ship non-production goods out the door, but have a disconnect from their production shipping policies and documentation requirements when it comes to managing this area.
The user interface provides a simple yet effective way to provide self service shipping throughout the office while deploying the same production shipping rules used for domestic or international shipments. This helps to ensure the use of preferred carriers and services and that negotiated rates are used no matter what type of goods are being shipped.
