Delivery Exception Management
Your organization should proactively oversee all your shipments as they move through the carrier network to:
- Lower transportation costs
- Improve on-time deliveries
- Boost responsiveness to potential disruptions
- Enhance customer service
Key Challenges
Lack of shipment visibility - Unforeseen problems with customs, damaged packages and carrier complications cause delays and late shipments
Increasing customer expectations - Customers now expect and demand timely shipment tracking information along with on-time deliveries
Manual efforts - Relying on labor intensive processes to track and trace shipments is time consuming and inefficient
Capabilities
- Shipment tracking
- Proof of delivery
- Exception management
- Carrier tracers
Delivery Exception Management
Delivery Exception Management is the single location to access visibility into all shipments — to and from your customers — from the time of carrier pick-up through delivery. An automated solution that targets the post-dock management of shipments, it provides multi-carrier status information about packages in-transit, helping you manage problem shipments by exception. With visibility of return shipments from your customers, your organization can enhance reverse logistics management and inbound planning efforts.
Key Features Of Delivery Exception Management
A centralized portal for multi-carrier tracking
Carrier generated event and exception management
Proof-of-Delivery (POD) capture
Raise carrier incidents for lost and damaged shipments
Track shipments originating in any system
A Centralized Portal for Multi-Carrier Tracking
Delivery Exception Management is a collaborative web-based portal that gives users a central place to access the status and details of shipments in-transit highlighting those shipments that have or may soon have a delivery problem. Built in search and filter functionality provides users with quick and easy access to delivery and shipment information.
Event and Exception Management
Delivery Exception Management is designed to provide exception management for the hundreds or thousands of shipments that flow through your business on a daily basis. This allows scarce business resources to concentrate on the real shipment issues and establish problem correction as early in the process as possible, while not having to spend time tracking shipments that are on target for on-time delivery.
Carrier Status Updates: Continuous electronic updates relating to shipments in-transit (such as manifested, hub-based or delivered scans) are received from carriers and stored in the solution.
Priority Alerts and Color-Coding: Deliveries that encounter problems in-transit or with delivery are highlighted with a “priority” or severity alert that can be categorized and color-coded. The use of priorities allows you to quickly identify the most critical problems in order to determine corrective action.
Proof-of-Delivery (POD) Capture
Delivery Exception Management provides your organization the ability to record the electronic delivered status from carriers and also to attach POD documents to a shipment. Whether for customer-related purposes or to support corporate governance and compliance initiatives, having a single location for all POD data helps to streamline processes for invoicing and audit purposes.
Raise Carrier Incidents for Lost and Damaged Shipments
Delivery Exception Management allows incident requests to be raised that can be electronically submitted to carriers. A shipment with an incident is flagged within Delivery Exception Management for management and reporting purposes.
Track Shipments Originating in Any System
QAD’s Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) technology allows external applications to easily submit shipments to Delivery Exception Management for enhanced visibility and exception management.
